National seminar on interfaith, religious harmony on April 11

Ahmedabad: Religious leaders, scholars, social workers, women and youths from different faiths and walks of life will come together to take part in a national seminar on “Interfaith and Religious Harmony for Peace and Development,” on April 11, Thursday, at Ahmedabad. Notice
HG Pulikkottil Dr Geevarghese Mar Yulios, Ahmedabad Diocese Metropolitan, is jointly organising this prestigious conference with the New Delhi-based Interfaith Coalition for Peace under Fr Dr Packiam Samuel, General Secretary.
Most Rev Stanislaus Fernandez, Archibishop of Gandhinagar, will deliver the presidential address while HH Swami Adhyatmanandji Saraswati, President of Shivanand Ashram, Ahmedabad, will deliver the inaugural address. Dr Syed Zafar Mahmood, IAS, President of Interfaith Coalition for Peace, will present the key note address.
The days-long eminar will see six paper presentations. These will be presented by Prof Dr Dilip Cherian, Head, Dept of Philosopy, Gujarat University on “Emphasis on Religious Harmony and Peace in Hinduism.”
Fr Cedric Prakash, Director, Prashant on “Peace, Justice and Harmony for Community Development from Christian Perspective,” and a joint presentation by Prof Dr Abdul Rahim Shaikh, Professor of Economics & Islamic Studies, B K School of Management, Gujarat University and by Prof Dr J I Laliwala, Prof of Economics & Islamic Philosophy, (Retd) Gujarat University, on “Islamic Perspective of Peace, Harmony & Community Development.”
The afternoon sessions will have presentations by Kum B K Vinayna, spiritual teacher, Brahmakumaris on “Culture of Respect from the Perspective of Brahmakumaris,” Shri V B Jain, eminent Jain scholar on “Perspective of Jainism for Religious Harmony,” Prof Dr M P Mathai, Dean, Gandhi Research Foundation, Jalgaon on “Gandhi’s Approach to Inter-Religious Relations,” and by Prof Dr Deepali Bhanot, Associate Professor of Sanskrit, JBM College, University of Delhi on “Role of Women in the perspective of inter-faith harmony and community development.”
Prof Dr M T Cherian, Associate Dean, Senate of Serampore College (University) alongwith Rt Rev Silvans Christian, Bishop of Gujarat, CNI Church, will act as moderators for the seminar. Dr Geevarghese Mar Yulios and Fr Dr Packiam Samuel will felicitate
Hotel Sarovar Portico (Hotel Rivera) in Khanpur, will be the venue for the seminar.
Topics and group discussions will also form part of the seminar. It will also see interaction during the last session with valedictory and findings and reports. The seminar comes to a close at 5 pm. ~ LC
