Dr Mar Yulios blesses additional block of Sunday School at Muscat

Muscat: October 18, 2013 marks a historic day in the annals of the 40-year Muscat Mar Gregorios Orthodox Maha Edavaka. Three years after laying stone for the additional floor for the parsonage, the building was consecrated from the holy hands of HG Pullikkottil Dr Geevarghese Mar Yulios, Ahmedabad Diocese Metropolitan.
Oonnoonni Thomas, the construction committee convenor, was showered with a ponnada and a memento for working successfully towards the necessary sanctions from the Municipality by the Metropolitan.
Earlier, Dr Mar Yulios led the blessing ceremony at the new block along with Maha Edavaka Vicar Fr Joji George Koickalethu, Associate Vicar Fr Binu John Thomas, Fr George Varghese, and Fr Ninan Thomas (Jacobite church Vicar). A plaque bearing the combined celebration of 40th anniversary of Maha Edavaka and Catholicate Centenary was unveiled by Dr Mar Yulios on the occasion. The keys to the building were handed over to the Maha Edavaka managing committee through the Diocesan Metropolitan.
Dr Mar Yulios in his address wanted the new block also to be made available for sister communities namely Marthomites, CSI or Jacobites. The spacious new block has rooms for the Sunday School classes, MGOCYM, Martha Mariam Samagham and a suite for the Sexton.
The services and help rendered by former Vicar Fr James Geevarghese, Fr Binu John Thomas, Fr George Varghese, Oonnoonni Thomas, Geevarghese Yohannan, Abraham Mathew, P K Koshy, Mammen George, Titus Samuel, George Varghese, T J Joseph, John Thomas Vadakkedom, Biju George, John Thomas, Binu Ammini, Cherian P Thomas, P C Cherian, Boban Mathew Thomas, and several others were remembered on the occasion. John Thomas (Santhosh), O Thomas also spoke on the occasion while Biju George proposed a vote of thanks.
