Golden Jubilee Celebrations Inaugurated at Ranchi

Ranchi: St. Stephen’s Orthodox Syrian Church, Ranchi on 6th October 2013 entered its 50th year of existence with great pomp & show. The occasion was graced by H.G. Dr. Joseph Mar Dionysius, Diocesan Metropolitan by being the Chief Guest. Rev. Fr. M. J. Mathew, Diocesan Secretary was the Guest of Honour. Rev. Fr. Aju K Varghese, Treasurer St. Thomas Mission Bhilai, Rev. Dr. Joseph J Ayrookuzhy Vicar Marthoma Church Ranchi, Rev. K. G. Mathew, Vicar Evangelical Church Ranchi, Mr. Jose Mukkath, Malankara Sabha Managing Committee Member, Mr. George Koshy, Calcutta Diocesan Council Member were the Special Guests who were present on this occasion.
The Dignitaries were accorded a customary Jharkhand welcome by the children of the parish dressed in traditional attire dancing to the beats of the Mandar (Local drum). Thirumeni unfurled the ceremonial flag & released balloons in the air to mark the beginning of the celebrations which was followed by the Opening Prayer & Lighting of Lamp. Rev.Fr. Mathew Thomas, Vicar, delivered the Welcome Speech. On this occasion Thirumeni declared the year 2013-14 as the Golden Jubilee Year of St. Stephen’s Orthodox Syrian Church, Ranchi and also released the Jubilee Logo. Mr. K. Joy, Calcutta Diocesan Council Member & General Convener of jubilee celebrations read out the Narration on logo & Announced various Jubilee Mission Project that would be undertaken in the jubilee year. The children of
the parish mesmerized the audience with their song & dance performances. Marta Mariam Samajam member’s Thiruvathira performance took everyone back to their childhood spent in Kerala. The wonderful skit ‘Noah’s Ark’ filled the stage with vibrant colours. Sewing machines were distributed by Thirumeni to the most deserving poor as a mark of beginning of Church’s Jubilee Mission Project under the Self Employment Scheme. The program ended with the vote of thanks by Mr. K. Joy.
