Dr Mar Yulios hands over first admission for St Mary’s Intl School

Naroda, Ahmedabad: The 3rd Ahmedabad Diocesan Council meeting for 2013-14 was held under the presidentship of its Metropolitan HG Pulikkottil Dr Geevarghese Mar Yulios on January 9. The meeting was held at Gandhi Smruthi Centre, St Thomas Bishop’s House, Naroda.
The highlight of the meeting was passing of Rs 6,61,3200 diocese budget for 2014-15 which was presented by Fr Jacob Mathew, Diocesan Secretary, and later passed. The balance amount to be paid for purchasing plot for the Diocese was discussed with the ongoing registration process .
Dr Mar Yulios also issued the maiden application form to a parent towards the admission to St Mary’s International School, Gandhinagar, in the midst of the Diocesan Council meeting. The school sketch was presented and accepted in principle with granting of permission for its temporary construction.
The 2014-15 outlay for 5 schools namely St Mary’s International School, Galudan, Ahmedabad, MGM English Medium School, Pithampur, MGM School, Dewas, St Thomas School, Rajkot,  MGM High School, Indore run directly under the Diocese amounting to Rs 46,110,720 was also presented and passed.
Regarding the Devaria Mission Project at Gandhidham, the Council discussed the draft and decided to talk with HG Dr Yuhanon Mar Chrysostomos, Metropolitan of Niranam Diocese, towards finalisation of the details at its next council.
The meeting also took stock of the OKR Clergy Conference to be held from August 19 to 21, 2014 which the Diocese plans to host at Hotel Sarovar Portico.
Jyothis, the Diocese bulletin was released in the Council meeting. The forthcoming issue will see Adv Mathai Mampallil, as its Chief Editor and Fr V Daniel as its publisher. Earlier, Dr Mar Yulios in his presidential address appreciated office bearers of the Diocese Centre for its effective co-ordination and working.
Fr Jacob Mathew, the Diocesan Secretary, welcomed the Council members. The meeting started with prayer after which the Diocesan Secretary welcomed the Council members. The minutes of the previous Council presented by the Diocesan Secretary was also discussed and passed.
