Dr Mar Yulios plays a different game, crowned TT champion

Skokie, Illinois: HG Pulikkottil Dr Geevarghese Mar Yulios has shown that he fits in more than his role as a Bishop and as Professor. Last week, this 43-year-old showed how he still has his serves right by becoming the new champion of Table Tennis (TT) in Chicago.
The Ahmedabad Diocese Metropolitan presently on a month-long visit to the US, emerged the winner in the best of 5 sets in a match with youngsters. In the end after a two hour tussle with youngsters from the Chicago area who imagined the Bishop had become ‘rusty’ and lacking practice, their hopes were belied. The Metropolitan was come from the start and destroyed a slow paced team which lacked ‘serious’ practice and crossovers.
The Metropolitan who showed up seriously for the warm up matches, practiced earnestly and produced winning results.
The guys who made short shrift of the match now need to bring out their best for the next outing when the energetic Metropolitan makes a short visit during July first week. The newly crowned champ is now more confident to dethrone them no end.
In his comments on Facebook, Dr Mar Yulios posted that the guys (players) need to have some serious regular practice before they show up for the tournament. “The players teamed up without practice and paid the price.”
However, the opposing players were not to be left behind. Don, (an opposing player) however avoided utter humiliation by taking a set each from the visiting Metropolitan. However, winning is not everything!!! It is the spirit, signed off a post by Dr Mar Yulios.
