Bangalore Orthodox Student’s Ministry enters social media on Facebook

Bangalore: The  Bangalore Orthodox Student’s Ministry Forum has latched on to the social media forum via Facebook. The Student’s Ministry under the leadership of Bangalore Diocese Metropolitan HG Dr Abraham Mar Seraphim has so far helped touch the hearts of many migrant students who come to Bangalore for educational purposes.
Fr Cyril Varghese Vadakadathu, is the Student Chaplain who is leading the Ministry since 2012. He along with Atkins Job Cheeran will act as the moderators. Presently nearly over 800 students are members of the forum on Facebook.
The Student’s Ministry has been successful towards targeting Orthodox students studying in the vast metropolis towards enriching their spiritual life. Under the Ministry, there are many activities which are held on a regular basis like Holy Eucharist, Bible Study, prayer meetings and counselling. The students forum has so far become a perfect platform of sharing of thoughts among students. Prayer requests for the students have also been addressed through Fr Cyril.
In January 2013, a Students Diary was launched. About 1,500 copies were distributed among the colleges in Bengaluru city. The diary containing details of information of all students was released at the Pravaasi Students Conference called Manna 2013 in Bengaluru. Over 350 students had attended the successful conference.
Dr Mar Seraphim had appointed Fr Cyril as a full time Student Chaplain priest for the Student Ministry of Bengaluru Diocese from June 2012.  The appointment vide Kalpana No 64/2012 dated June 17, 2012, is in tune with Dr Mar Seraphim’s  report submitted to the Holy Episcopal Synod which suggested a roadmap to vision for the youth ministry.
