Muscat Maha Edavaka harvest, parish day celebrations on Nov 7


Muscat: HG Dr Joshua Mar Nicodimos, Metropolitan, Nilackal Diocese, will be the chief guest for the Feast of patron St Gregorios of Parumala at the Muscat Mar Gregorios Orthodox Maha Edavaka on November 7, Friday.
Dr Mar Nicodemus will also be the chief celebrant at a Holy Trimass at the Maha Edavaka’s parish day celebrations at St Thomas Church on Friday from 6.15 am. This will be followed by the auction of first fruit offerings, fete and sale and a variety of entertainment programmes from the spiritual organisations from 10 am to 4 pm.
Yesterday, the visiting Metropolitan led the Holy Eucharist and the 7th Dukhrono of LL HG Dr Stephanos Mar Theodosios (1924-2007), Metropolitan of Calcutta Diocese. This was followed by a short seminar on the great visionary who set up the St Thomas Bhillai Mission.
On Tuesday, upon arrival at the Muscat International Airport, Dr Mar Nicodimos was received by Maha Edavaka Vicar/President Fr Joji George Koickalethu, Fr Varghese George, Fr Zachariah Ninan Chirthilattu (Zacher), Executive Members Jacob Kuriakose (Trustee), John P Luke (Secretary), and area committee members Sabu Thomas, Sabu Koshy, Biju George, Varghese David and others.
Fr Joji George has requested the faithful to attend the convention and harvest festival in large numbers and make it successful.
Mar Nicodimos was appointed as the First Metropolitan of the newly formed Nilackal Diocese on August 15, 2010. His Grace was conferred the Doctor of Divinity (honoris causa) by the New York-based General Theological Seminary at its 188th Annual Commencement in May 18, 2011. In February 2012, the Holy Episcopal Synod appointed him as the President of the Akhila Malankara Balasamajam.
