St. Thomas College Wins 4th Mar Theodosius Basketball Tournament


Bhilai: The 4th Mar Theodosius State level Intercollegiate Basketball Tournament was held at St. Thomas College, Bhilai in sacred memory of its Late Lamented, Founder and Manager Bishop Dr. Stephanos Mar Theodosius. 11 teams from various Colleges of Chhattisgarh participated in the tournament. Rev. Fr. Jose.K. Varghese, Executive Vice-Chairman, Christian College of Engineering and Technology, who inaugurated the tournament stated that the Late Lamented Bishop was a pioneer architect in the field of education and contributed his entire life to spread the light of knowledge. College Administrator Rev. Fr. George Mathew Ramban also highlighted on the charismatic features of the Late Manager Bishop and blessed all the participants. Principal of the College Dr. Reny George extended a warm welcome to the gathering and said that His Grace was a visionary and an educationist, his aim was to uplift the poor and downtrodden through education and social service. Rev. Fr. Joshi Varghese, Education officer and Secretary of St. Thomas Mission, Bhilai was the Chief Guest for the prize distribution ceremony of the tournament.
The host team of St. Thomas, College defeated Kalayan College, 63-42, to lift Mar Theodosius Trophy and a cash prize of Rs. 15,000 and a trophy. The runner up received a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 and a trophy instituted in the memory of Late Manager Bishop. Vinay kumar of St. Thomas College was declared the best player of the tournament, Palash of Kalayan College the best defender and Prasun of Kalayan College as the highest scorer. Vice Principal Dr. M.G. Roymon, Office Bearers of the Students Union Council were also present on the occasion.
